Let's talk about books

"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only once." said George R.R. Martin. Do you agree?

Today is the International Children's Book Day and get ready to travel to the exciting world of books by watching this beautiful animated film:The Fantastic Flying Books

The international Children's Book Day is on April 2, because it's the date when Hans Christian Andersen was born.

Hans Christian Andersen was born on 2 April 1805 in Odense, Denmark. He wrote hundreds of plays, novels and poems for both adults and children, but he became famous for his fairytales. Until he was 14, Andersen attended a school for poor children.

He left the school when he was 14 to become an actor in Copenhagen, but a close friend told him to focus on his poetry and stories. He suffered from dyslexia, meaning he had trouble reading and writing. His first book of fairy tales was published between 1835 and 1837.

Most of his fairy tales had unhappy endings. They have been translated into more than 125 different languages around the world and have been made into films, TV shows, ballets and plays.

One of the following books is not Andersen's. Can you find it?

The Emperor’s New Clothes

The Little Mermaid

The Princess and the Pea

The Selfish Giant

The Ugly Duckling

The Little Match Girl
